The System Engineer is responsible for technical pre-sales support throughout the sales cycle. This includes, but is not limited to, the development and implementation of technical sales strategies, delivery of technical presentations, product demonstrations, customer and reseller training, and support for customer product evaluations. 


 


The Systems Engineer will use their technical knowledge to drive sales while insuring customer satisfaction through proper expectation management.  As part of maintaining customer satisfaction, some post-sale duties may occasionally be required to resolve customer issues.  The Systems Engineer must be a self-starter and always seek opportunities to advance sales and industry presence for DellEqualLogic.

 

 
Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Provide pre-sales technical support
  • Provide technical product presentations and demonstrations
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of major competitors and baseline knowledge of all other competition
  • Lead efforts to design and deliver customized solutions to meet customers’ needs
  • Work directly with customers in the sales and account management process
  • Manage and provide technical support for pre-sales product evaluations
  • Provide customer assistance with all related test tools and applications
  • Perform reseller and customer technical product training
  • Insure customer satisfaction through proper expectation setting
  • Provide problem escalation in a timely manner when required
  • Provide feedback on features, issues, trends, and other product or market related concerns that affect product sales and acceptance
  • Work with EqualLogic Technical Support when required to provide post-sale support
  • Maintain/keep current all reports and paperwork  
  • Keep current on all EqualLogic product features, capabilities, and roadmaps

 
 Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
 
The Systems Engineer position requires the following prerequisite skills and experience.  Additionally, the System Engineer is expected to constantly improve their skills to meet or exceed industry requirements.  These skills apply to technical knowledge, sales awareness, business acumen, time management, and interpersonal skills such as written and verbal communication. 
  • Technical degree or equivalent required
  • 5 years of pre-sales support
  • 3 years of indepth Storage experience including SANs, NAS, storage management, back-up/recovery
  • 3 years experience with UNIX, Linux, NT/Windows Server or other Operating Systems
  • 3 years experience with Storage Integration into heterogeneous IT environments
  • Experience with Ethernet and IP Networking technologies
  • Good working knowledge of performance and storage test tools
  • Strong individual and group presentation skills
  • Very good verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent customer management skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Self-starter – good internal motivation for self-directed time and activities
